Lyle looked down to their lingering hands and pulled his away, a bit to swiftly. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to hold her hand, he rather did. But, being the kind of person that he was, he didn’t think she’d want to hold his hand for too much longer. Of course, he was probably overanalyzing it, like he overanalyzed everything else. She probably didn’t mind, but being the person that he was, he thought she did. “Sorry.” He murmured, tucking his hand into his pocket and cleared his throat as his free hand continued to clean up the stain. “No, it’s fine. I’ve got more shirts. It’s not the first time I’ve spilled something, so it’s fine. And you’re welcome, Noelle.” He said with a smile as he looked back to his table. “I’m sitting over there, I was just up to get my coffee, do you want to sit.” He asked, immediately regretting the words as they came out of his parted lips. “You don’t have to, but yeah.”
Noelle sighed softly feeling the boy pull his hand away so fast. She has this weird feeling in the pit of her stomach. With every word he seemed to speak she was listening. This feeling left her almost in a dizzy state, hazy in some way. But she didn’t care. She liked this feeling with the boy right across from her and to her that was all that mattered. Hearing his mumble she chewed on the inside of her cheek. Looking at him still cleaning up she chuckled and looked at the boy as he spoke again. Nodding agreeing with him she smiled hearing his over. “No no I would actually really like that, Lyle.” The girl let out. She didn’t know how the boy would react to her or how he would be about the whole thing but she could feel her stomach already twisting with nerves but she had another weird feeling that everything would be just alright. And that this boy was something special.
Lyle shook his head at the girl’s apology, another one from when the two had actually begun talking. “Really, don’t worry about it. I’ll survive.” He smiled, looking down at the rather large stain that was on his shirt, causing it to stick to his skin. The boy was a little taken aback by her attempts to clean him up, but didn’t do anything to stop her. It was strange, had anyone else tried that move, he would’ve backed away and stared at them with a weird expression, since he wasn’t found of anyone ever touching him. But, this was weird, he didn’t object to this, he just let it happen. “Nice to meet you, I’m Lyle.” He said with a smile, extending his arm. “And you don’t have to clean me up, by the way. I think I can do that myself. But, I appreciate you effort.”
Hearing him she chuckled a bit and then helped him clean up. The girl was usually this friendly though. She wanted to help people. To make a change in the world and spilling a coffee to her was horrible. If that was her she would be really mad probably. Which she hated to admit that. As she backed away she laughed a bit and chewed on the inside of her lip. “Pleasure to meet you.” She smiled shaking his hand. Her own hand lingering in his a bit too long. When she noticed that she pulled her hand back and flushed red with embrassment. “I Um I am sorry. I just…. yeah I’m sorry but thank you for liking my effort!” She laughed a bit.
